Kaj Lange 'Thistle' table lamp for Royal Copenhagen and Fog & Mørup

Available and in excellent condition - rewired

This classic Mid-Century Modern table lamp represents a sought-after collaboration between two powerhouses of twentieth-century Danish design: Royal Copenhagen and Fog & Mørup. Designed in the 1960s by artist Kaj Lange, the piece features the iconic Thistle motif (known as Tidsel in Danish), beautifully demonstrating the synthesis of traditional ceramic craftsmanship and clean Scandinavian lighting design.

The cylindrical base is crafted from high-fired white porcelain and tapers neatly at the neck to form an elegant profile. It is decorated with intricate hand-painted botanical illustrations of thistles rendered in Royal Copenhagen's signature cobalt blue underglaze glaze. The stark, graphic quality of the spiky thistle blooms paired with the smooth porcelain body gives the lamp a refined, organic feel that translates effortlessly into contemporary and mid-century interiors alike.

Royal Copenhagen produced the porcelain ceramic bases for this series, while Fog & Mørup provided the electrical fittings and technical craftsmanship. The lamp is paired with a sand coloured shade, which casts a warm, soft ambient glow across the room and creates a pleasant textural contrast against the smooth glazed ceramic base.

As an original mid-century Danish creation, this lamp appeals to collectors of vintage Scandinavian lighting, modern design enthusiasts, and admirers of fine studio porcelain. It works exceptionally well as a accent light on a sideboard, console table, or bedside nightstand.
