Mid-century armchair designed by Ejnar Larsen & Aksel Bender Madsen for Willy Beck
Available and in very good condition
Large mid-century armchair in solid rosewood and black leather upholstery, produced by Willy Beck in Copenhagen in the 1950s. This chair is designed in 1949 by Ejnar Larsen & Aksel Bender Madsen where it was also shown that same year at the cabinetmakers guild exhibition in Copenhagen.
Larsen and Madsen, frequent collaborators and graduates of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, imbued this piece with a sense of understated sophistication. The leather upholstery complements the wooden structure, enhancing comfort without compromising the minimalist aesthetic. A characteristic design where the leather upholstery is wrapped around the upper part of the legs up to the armrests. The design of the seat shows some slight curves complementing the angle of the armrests.
Produced by Willy Beck, a renowned Danish cabinetmaker known for his commitment to quality and innovation, this armchair remains a celebrated collector’s item. Its timeless appeal and thoughtful construction make it not only a functional piece of furniture but also a work of art—representative of the golden age of Danish design.
