This striking vintage stoneware sculpture presents a closely grouped procession of six elongated female figures, standing shoulder to shoulder as if united in quiet solidarity. Their simplified, almost primitive forms are reduced to essential silhouettes, with long, textured bodies rising into softly rounded heads. The figures appear to merge into one another, creating a sense of collective presence rather than six entirely separate individuals.

The earthy, weathered surface gives the work a beautifully aged character, with layers of brown, taupe, and charcoal tones accentuating the hand-worked texture. Vertical marks and irregularities run across the bodies, suggesting the artist’s direct engagement with the clay and giving the sculpture an organic, almost archaeological quality.

There is something both ancient and contemporary about the piece. The repeated female forms evoke ideas of community, sisterhood, ritual, and shared identity, while their solemn, anonymous faces leave their individual stories open to interpretation.
